Super for those who enjoy customized treks and a flavour of the local culture. Perfect for both adrenaline seekers as well as peace seekers looking for some soul searching time! And of course, a great getaway in Rishikesh for honeymooners/ couples!

What we love

  • This getaway in Rishikesh is high up on the cliff front with the river flowing down below. The inherent silence of this getaway is pleasantly interrupted only by the chirping of the birds and the powerful rapids in the river!
  • Be welcomed with a glass of pure rhododenron juice, made from the bright red juicy flowers usually found in upper Himalayas, and a Rudraksha bracelet, a seed traditionally used for prayer beads in Hinduism, for keeps.
  • The stone cottages, named after famous mountaineers who have scaled the intimidating mountains and made them their own, are cozy reminding one of the humble cottages usually found in mountainous regions. Most cottages have balconies and sitouts where breakfast and morning tea is served along with a gorgeous view of the sunrise and liberal sightings of Himalayan birds. In the evening, a warm fireplace is set up with wood collected from the forest creating your own personal bonfire for an evening spent enjoying casual banter with loved ones or a quiet evening spent with oneself.
  • For those in the mood for a natural romantic rendezvous, a private lunch for two can be served by the rapids on a private beach a short distance from the getaway. The white sandy beach and the lovely river flowing by is bound to bring out the romantic in you!

What to know

  • This could be the perfect place for revitalizing yoga sessions! There’s a lovely sandy platform in the forest grove that yoga enthusiasts will totally love!
  • If you’re lucky and the number of guests are few, you could be served a meal on a lovely rocky patio that’s well set with comfortable chairs around a rocky fire pit. We think this is one of most idealistic bonfires under the perfectly starlit skies. Trust us, you’ve probably not seen this many stars elsewhere!
  • Carry your running shoes for utmost comfort while treading the cobbled paths that connect the getaway
  • Meals are pre-decided and usually North Indian or Continental. If you’re on a restricted diet or if you need a special preparation for the children, inform the chef in advance.
  • There are no televisions in the rooms, just one in the lounge area but really, you won’t even miss one once you get here!
  • Telephone signals can be choppy at times. Internet, while available in the common area, is basic. Carry your own devices if you need to be connected or check urgent mails

Aarti on the Ganges

The evening aarti on the banks of the Ganges at Parmarth Niketan Ashram in Rishikesh is a luminous sight to behold at twilight. The burnished sky is the perfect backdrop to the flames licking the sky and revering the waters. During this divine ceremony, oil lamps (dias) are offered to God.

The children who study vedas, the holiest books of Hindu religion, at the Ashram, sing hymns, pray and chant creating an enchanting spiritual ambience for all. This is one of the must do experiences to behold if one is in Rishikesh, even for those who shy away from religious ceremonies. It’s a visual feast that’s reminiscent of the pre-civilization practices of revering the elements. The aarti starts at around 6:30 pm. Be there on time to enjoy this visual and high energy ceremony where God is thanked.
