GREAT FOR

Those who enjoy being in the midst of nature in a quaint and charming bungalow, will love this place. This is also perfect for a small group of friends/ family who are looking for a getaway from Bangalore, Chennai or Coimbatore.

What we love

  • Situated in a perfect hidden corner of Ooty, this bungalow holds 150 years of rich history. Wander around the house to spot antique water filters, tea pots and other oddities! We absolutely loved the lounge area with the large fireplace and a piano - perfect for relaxing evenings when it gets chilly outside.
  • The heritage rooms too, each with a fireplace, reek of charm and beauty. The staff appoints each room everyday with fresh flowers from the garden! The bathrooms are delightful with low windows that are reminiscent of old countryside cottages. Opt for the suites if you’d like a bit of extra space and a sitting area, else the deluxe rooms are comfortable and cosy enough for two.
  • The cottage has a beautiful glass fronted restaurant that overlooks the grassy outdoors and a kitchen where homely food is prepared with a whole lot of love by the staff. Watch cows saunter in while you tuck into some cheese toast. We highly recommend trying a few of several local dishes that find their spot on the menu, and the local thali at least once.

What to know

  • One of the most enjoyable parts of staying here is the evening fireplace service. Just as the sun touches the horizon and the chill starts creeping in, the staff walks in with dry wood and the promise of a warm fire. Curl up with a book and tea or just watch the embers comes alive.
  • The garden has several quaint spaces for some solo time. Walk around and find your own spot on the wrought iron bench or under a tree! We’d also recommend having a meal or cup of tea outside on the lawns or in the gazebo.
  • There is no bar at the bungalow or any alcohol vendors nearby. We recommend you carry your own alcohol if you wish to have a glass of wine or whiskey in the chilly night.
  • Given that it’s a restored cottage, sometimes the doors may not lock very well or the taps may sputter. Just be a little patient and watch the helpful staff fix the shortcomings. The staff is very attentive and if you need anything at all, chances are you can request for it.
