Those looking for a quiet getaway right on the beach in a town that reeks of the past will love this place! Perfect for sea lovers and history buffs. Great for couples or a small group of friends/ family.

What we love

  • On the land of the singing waves that was a Danish colony for over 200 years, rests a splendid beach house that dates back to the 17th century with magnificent views of the Bay of Bengal!
  • The heritage structure displays its rich colonial past with its archaic architecture style and antique furniture. Minimalistic and comfortable are the two words that best describe the heritage rooms named after Danish ships.
  • The gentle breeze that’s crossed the sea will come and brush against your face to set you on a trance of peace and quiet. They say, this region has the thickest layer of ozone in India! Just the kind of vacation city dwellers need and wish for the most?

What to know

  • The town also houses the first printing press and the first protestant church in India. Do try and find your way there, though the state of both aren’t very good.
  • Wifi is available at the beach house though the connectivity is the strongest right around the reception area.
  • If available, we highly recommend the rooms on the first floor that offer breathtaking views of the sea. Only the sea view rooms have television and fridge.
  • The service may be a little slow. Order well in advance incase you’re hungry.
  • The beach is rocky and not suitable for a swim. The beach house has a swimming pool though incase you wish to take a dip.

Dansborg Fort

The 400 year old Dansborg Fort, rests majestically on the shores of Bay of Bengal. Back in the 17th century, the fort served as the base of the Danish settlement in the region. Today, the it’s been converted into a museum. Over the weekends, the locals swing by to enjoy the refreshing sea breeze and other simple things in life - a cone of icecream or balloons for their kids.
