GREAT FOR

Couples, small groups and families who would like a private stay in a heritage architectural marvel along the coastline. The sprawling lawns of the property make it a great venue for hosting parties and events as well!

What we love

  • Located by the beachside, an erstwhile ancestral ‘walauwa’ - a colonial manor typically that belonged to native headmen, caught the fancy of Sri Lanka’s much loved and revered architect, who refurbished the place, giving Sri Lanka one of its first boutique hotels on the coastline.
  • Contemporary and modern finishes find their way into the bedrooms and suites that are luxurious havens of comfort. Most rooms have a cosy balcony/sit out area and offer calming views of the sea, while opening up to the verdant gardens or shimming waters of the pool. The suites, in addition to being larger rooms, also come with private lounging around areas.
  • The deep verandahs, patios, pavilions, courtyard and balconies, allow for continuous flow of space and light, while beautifully blending the interiors of this heritage mansion with the tropical surroundings - an architectural style that’s bound to appease the senses and create a setting befitting a vacation.
  • Very rarely does a place as boutique and private as this one, offer a choice of not one but two swimming pools! For tanning or swimming laps, the larger pool set amidst the gardens, is perfect, while for an intimate dip, the cosy plunge pool of sorts, set within the walls of the villa is great!

What to know

  • This one’s a celebrity’s escape, literally! Indulge in rejuvenating massages, retail therapy, or walk over, just across the railway track, to the tranquil golden beaches that kiss the ocean.
  • The chefs here are magicians who stir up some of the most flavourful and divine dishes that one can have in Sri Lanka. The local dishes are a complete feast - try some of the house specials such as the lemongrass and ginger chicken or the innovative wasabi coated salmon.
  • Observe and admire the stark art-works, installations, curios and other artefacts that lend the villa its distinctive character while giving a glimpse into the rich Asian heritage and culture.
  • The villa, along with its sprawling manicured lawns dotted with coconut trees, doubles up as a venue of choice for celebrations and events - host upto 150 people without a worry, while the incredible staff work tirelessly to stitch up a memorable occasion.
