A group of 6 to 10 people interested in staying in a private villa, not far from the beaches and the main sights of the Southern coast, will find the location ideal. We highly recommend the villa to those who enjoy a setting in nature and a bit of seclusion.

What we love

  • Set over a large estate on a forested hill and surrounded by manicured gardens is this colonial 5 bedroom villa with a private pool that nudges you into a state of relaxation and calm.
  • The well kept gardens tumble onto the deep columned verandah with informal cane seating - a generous space for anytime chatter with tea and coffee. The verandah spills onto the formal living area through the arched doors. Carefully selected Sri Lankan artefacts and vintage pieces decorate the room, effortlessly taking you back to another century!
  • Five romantic bedrooms, each fitted with a four poster bed and other period furniture is where you can retire anytime of the day. An indulgent master bedroom with a free standing tub in the ensuite bathroom is situated on the ground level along with another bedroom adjacent to it - both opening up to a beautiful verandah. Three more high ceiling bedrooms, bounded by a running balcony, find their place on the first level.
  • The pool situated at the edge of the villa feels like a heavenly tropical escape - the ideal spot to languish away on the loungers listening to the birdsong, or cool off in the pool.

What to know

  • With a chef at your service, feast on scrumptious local delights as well as international fare of your choice. Just need to pay for the provisions and let the chef know what you’d like to have and that’s it, await the gastronomic delights to be served. While some locally available wine can be arranged, incase you’re particular about other spirits, do pick those up at duty free!
  • The immediate surrounding is that of rich forests and greens that beautifully blend in with the scenic tropical beaches, enchanting lagoons and turtle hatcheries - all less than 10 minutes drive away. Witness species of rare birds on the islands nearby or explore the historic town of Galle, littered with several gourmet restaurants, cafes and boutiques, about 20 minutes drive away.
  • A full team of warm and hospitable staff (housekeeping, chef, gardener and security) will be at your service from the moment you arrive.
  • While the rates quoted are for 5 bedrooms, the villa can be booked as a 3 bedroom option as well. Get in touch with us on [email protected] for rates and more details on this.

On one of the islands, you can dip your feet in a pool of golden fish, who nibble on your feet, and relax you within a few minutes! Stilt Fishermen

In the past, to battle crowded fishing spots, fishermen affixed sticks in coral reefs right on the water during dawn and dusk to get their catch of the day while balancing themselves delicately on right angled offshoots known as ‘petta’. Many of these fishermen pose for the camera between Welligama and Unawatuna on the coastal strip and earn a better living than by just fishing!

Galle Fort & Lighthouse

The quaint historical town of Galle is a delightful example of Portuguese and Dutch architecture that seamlessly blends in with native traditions. A fortified city that bravely bounced back after the 2004 tsunami, the Galle city is full of wonders and surprises if you’ve got a quick eye and are ready to explore. There’s nothing like spending a day strolling along the decadent ramparts or the ancient cobbled paths with fascinating names such as the ” Moorse Kramerstraat” or the Pedlar Street while peaking into the magnificent Dutch Reformed Church.

Take a selfie with the oldest breadfruit tree in Galle and or have an engaging conversation with many a writers and artists who take a seat at their favourite watering holes in and around the fort area. Call it day with a visit to the Galle lighthouse soaking in the panoramic views.
