This boutique hotel in Jaisalmer, serves as a perfect base to explore the golden city. Situated only meters away from the main entrance to the ‘Shonar Kella’ , you can literally wake up to Fort’s golden shimmer.

What we love

  • A private mansion has been magically transformed into a boutique hotel overlooking the magnificent Fort. The hotel displays a perfect blend of rich Rajasthani aesthetics and classic English comfort.
  • Unpolished sandstones, Gudri collected from the local villagers, wall paints in softer hues and wooden floors impart natural warmth to every inch of this beautiful stay that helps you slow down and relax in its delicious leisure. If you are tired of the opulence and royalty that generally the hotels around this area boast of, try this one that is neat, warm, young and responds to your need of peace and quietude.
  • Every room, draped in soft colors, is plush, uncluttered and super comfortable - all while letting you get a glimpse of the massive golden-yellow Fort, that looks resplendent all around the clock, right from your room. The relaxing red couches with candles on each little table top is warm and inviting in case you want to grab a book over some coffee or simply want to while out some time before donning your travel shoes.
  • We absolutely love the roof top restaurant that serves delectable Italian and North Indian delicacies. It’s a great place at any time of the day - imagine sipping on a glass of wine or a warm cup of coffee in the glowing sunlight of Jaisalmer. You can sit and enjoy the crisp sun on breezy winter mornings or sit under the cool white draperies if the heat is scorching.

What to know

  • This boutique hotel comes within hundred meters of the Singha Dwar or the main gate of the Fort placing you conveniently at the very hub of the city. Barring the excursion to the sand-dunes, everything is within walking distance.
  • For all the pet lovers, now you don’t have worry about your pet’s aching heart at your absence. This is one of the few boutique hotels that allows and attends to their guests’ pets with equal care and attention.
  • The hotel also has WiFi, unlimited that too, just incase you’d like to surf or if work calls beckon.
  • The roof top restaurant has a wood-fired oven that creates some of the best pizzas in Jaisalmer! We definitely recommend ordering this during your stay here.

Patwa Haveli

The history of Kothari’s Patwa Haveli dates back to the 18th century when the patwas were struggling to set up their trade. A priest advised them to leave Jaisalmer as their business would not flourish. Based on this advice, they left the city with no intention to return.

However, according to legend, the patwas were successful thereafter with businesses in banking, silver and opium trade. They were even called upon to finance the state deficit. This brought the clan back to the city. The then head of the family, decided to gift each of his five sons an elaborate mansion, which is now known as the Patwa Haveli in Jaisalmer! For more details, click here.

Today, the haveli has been converted into a museum that houses exclusive furnishings and accessories of the erstwhile patwas.

Off to the sand dunes

Make a date with the sand dunes and slowly drift into the ripples of sand on the back of a camel. Chase the high dunes while soaking in the vastness of the Thar desert coloured just by the sky, first, painted in sunset colours and then, with the shimmering stars!

Once you’re done romancing the sunset, the camel man will snap you out of this dream and lead you to a set up that’s just as enchanting. Make yourself comfortable on the white floor pads, set in a circular arrangement, with candles and lanterns, order your drinks and drift off to the times of the Mughals & Persians with a hookah in your hand. The silence of the desert is broken by musicians who fill the desert air with Rajasthani folk music while colourfully clad men and women put up a beautiful dance performance.
