What we love

  • Set amidst the wilderness surrounded by a green cover of tall tress, lies an intimate and idyllic jungle lodge in Kabini perfect for a tryst with the wildlife in the company of loved ones.
  • The charming lodge comes with spacious rooms and luxurious tents, each with its own private deck to enjoy nature at its very best. Watch the animals of Nagarhole National Park, read a book or lay back and just enjoy the serenity of the jungle. The uber cool tents also come with a romantic free standing tub!
  • The warmth and hospitality of the staff will make you feel like you’re home away from home. Your demands will be met with a smile promptly. Whether it’s a request for an extra chair on the deck or a quick snack in the evening to relish the sunset with, the staff members at the lodge will go the extra mile to fulfil your requests.
  • The lodge’s inviting swimming pool under forest cover is the perfect place to relax and unwind after a day’s excursion in to the jungle. Listen to the animal calls and the bird songs while you rejuvenate your mind, body and soul.

What to know

  • This protected jungle area was part of a large home back in the day and was used by people for meditation. With the passage of time and with limited footprint of humans, the birds and animals made it their home.
  • The jungle lodge strictly does not allow children below 10 years of age. Families with children in this age group may have to give this place a skip or sadly plan for a vacation without them.
  • Tribal life has existed in the world ever since the pre-historic times. After the advent of modern technology, man began to shun his cannibalistic ways and put on the garb of reformed civil life. However, even to this date, there remain areas in the world where man still co-exists peacefully with nature. This area is one such region. Go on a cycle, provided by the lodge, to get an insight into the lives of the ‘Jenu Kurubas’ of Karnataka, the local communities, and learn how their seclusion from rest of the world has shaped their thoughts and developed their own unique culture and traditions.

Nagarhole National Park

Safari Timings - Morning 6 am to 9:30 am and afternoon, 3 pm to 7 pm

Nagarhole National Park, a tiger reserve in Karnataka, was the hunting grounds of the former rulers of the Kingdom of Mysore. The park derives its name from naga, which means snakes and hole, which means streams. The park with its rich forests consisting of rosewood, teak, sandalwood and silver oak trees, meandering brooks and streams, waterfalls and hills, is the home to the Asian elephants, tigers, leopards, Indian bison, jackals, grey mongoose and the spotted deer.

With over 300 species of birds, the park is a bird watchers’ paradise. Pull out your binoculars on the game drive and let the experienced naturalist demystify the bird calls. Look out for the critically endangered Oriental White-Backed Vulture and the nearly threatened darters and the oriental white ibis.

During your drive, you may also chance upon the Jenu Kurubas, the local tribals that still live in the forest. They’re traditional food gatherers and honey collectors - the term ‘Jenu’ means ‘honey’ while ‘kuruba’ means ‘shepherd’. The government has been trying for a while to relocate them but this has been difficult given their strong attachment and love for the forests.
