Wildlifers, peace-seekers and nature lovers will fall in love with this resort that’s beautfully nestled with the Kabini river on two sides. It’s the perfect weekend getaway for those who’d love to escape the hustle and bustle of the city while being in the lap of nature and luxury. Honeymooners or couples looking to celebrate a special occasion will also find this place to be perfect!

What we love

  • This gorgeous resort sits right at the edge of the Kabini river with the Nagarhole National Park beyond. The region is home to a myriad tribal communities, each with its own distinctive culture, tradition and set of rituals -from tribes or karubas living in the forests to those christened as honey collectors.
  • The resort and the cottages within it have been designed in the traditional Kadu Kuruba tribal style of architecture. This particular tribe carries along with it the pedigree of being one of the most creative and artistically inclined tribes in India - creativity that’s reflected in their style of architecture, music and other art forms. Regardless of which cottage you opt for, your abode will be a thatched hut that beautifully merges with the million hues of the wildlife reserve.
  • The resort metes out two kinds of extremely luxurious Kadu Kuruba inspired huts for you to reside in. Both set of cottages, come with their own opulent courtyard where you can spend leisurely hours, reading a book, enjoying a cup of tea while admiring the glorious Kabini river, a cosy bedroom with an ensuite luxurious bathroom, and a private swimming or a jacuzzi! Your cottage within too will have interesting tribal elements - fragrances of lemongrass oil, handcrafted furnishings, paintings and various artefacts that have been amalgamated seamlessly with a greater sense of luxury and comfort.
  • Be a part of the local tribal customs, festivities and traditions - a heritage that’s been sacredly passed on since the time of the Pallava and Chola dynasties. While many of the traditional households have perished under the tidal wave of urbanisation, few live on due to the concerted efforts of the Government and sustainable tourism ventures such as these. Enjoy the exotic tribal dance routines that take place every evening - these are traditionally carried out over auspicious occasions as well when guests visit the land of the tribals.
  • The resort does a series of intimate and personalized dining experiences - imagine candle light dinner on a cruise - all particularly romantic, especially for couples or those here to celebrate their honeymoon.

What to know

  • Tribal life has existed in the world ever since the pre-historic times, when men were mostly hunters and food gatherers. After the advent of modern technology, man began to shun his cannibalistic ways and put on the garb of reformed civil life. However, even to this date, there remain areas in the world where man still co-exists peacefully with nature. This area is one such region. Get an insight into the lives of the local communities and learn how their seclusion from rest of the world has shaped their thoughts and developed their own unique culture and traditions, witnessing an awe inspiring journey that shows the transformation of the local tribes as hunter gatherers to small farmers.
  • Impeccable hospitality awaits you here. Every member of the staff is receptive, has a smiling face and always ready to help. Your needs will be understood and attended to without you mentioning them. The staff is always two steps ahead in laying out the red carpet and crafting an experience that one’s bound to remember for a long time to come.
  • The people behind the resort go out of their way to preserve the environment. As a result, the cottages, both with pools and jacuzzis, are not heated due to the vast amount of energy required.
  • In addition to the day time safaris, we highly recommend going on the night safari where another world awaits. The experienced naturalists and guides will unfurl creatures unseen and ensure you have a little rendezvous with them - say a little hello to the owls and the bats, lizards and the spiders. Wear the hat of an adventurer and take off on this little journey.
  • WiFi is only available at the common areas of the resort.
  • Treat your body to a relaxing Ayurvedic massage and experience the magic of this ancient healing system. Destress, detox, rejuvenate, nourish the skin, get rid of insomnia or any other ailment through these highly scientific systems.

Nagarhole National Park

Safari Timings - Morning 6 am to 9:30 am and afternoon, 3 pm to 7 pm

Nagarhole National Park, a tiger reserve in Karnataka, was the hunting grounds of the former rulers of the Kingdom of Mysore. The park derives its name from naga, which means snakes and hole, which means streams. The park with its rich forests consisting of rosewood, teak, sandalwood and silver oak trees, meandering brooks and streams, waterfalls and hills, is the home to the Asian elephants, tigers, leopards, Indian bison, jackals, grey mongoose and the spotted deer.

With over 300 species of birds, the park is a bird watchers’ paradise. Pull out your binoculars on the game drive and let the experienced naturalist demystify the bird calls. Look out for the critically endangered Oriental White-Backed Vulture and the nearly threatened darters and the oriental white ibis.

During your drive, you may also chance upon the Jenu Kurubas, the local tribals that still live in the forest. They’re traditional food gatherers and honey collectors - the term ‘Jenu’ means ‘honey’ while ‘kuruba’ means ‘shepherd’. The government has been trying for a while to relocate them but this has been difficult given their strong attachment and love for the forests.
