This place is great for people who would love to be cocooned and caressed in the comforts of a working 300 acre coffee and spice plantation utopia, surrounded by lush evergreen forests and fresh air all around. Ideal for caffeine addicts interested in garnering knowledge of their favourite beverage as well honeymooners and romantics, given its ambience and gorgeous setting. This place is perfect to celebrate those special occasions with your loved one!

What we love

  • This utterly gorgeous resort set amidst working coffee and spice plantations on the hills, sits at a juncture where the Deccan plateau meets with the Western Ghats, a UNESCO world heritage site and one of the hottest biodiversity hotspots in the world! The mighty Cauvery river skirts the resort with the virgin lush green forests lurking on the other side.
  • Each of the indulgent and super luxurious villas/ cottages have been inspired by Kodava architecture and themed around Kodava Ainmanes, native ancestral homes of Coorgi people, handed down from one generation to the next, without being split up and keeping the family together.
  • Each villa/ cottage comes with its own unbelievably romantic private pool either by the garden or overlooking the plantations, courtyards and sit-outs with planter chairs, bedrooms lit perfectly with warm yellow lamps creating an ambience that’s bound to take you back to the time you just got married! Regardless of which one you choose, get ready to be transported to the perfect world of romance and beauty.
  • The resort offers a series of intimate private dining experiences to couples in romantic, ‘fairytale’ like settings - imagine having a specially crafted meal with your loved one under a star lit sky or by the serene waters, magic isn’t it?
  • Your dream vacation is only interrupted by unobtrusive hospitality and service - from those who stir up the magic in your villa to those who work out in the plantations, always wearing a smile on their face.

What to know

  • The local Kodava community, with a distinct identity that’s been intensely guarded for centuries, was originally a tribal land-owning agriculturalist martial race. The members of the clan were warriors who were known to have worshipped their guns and swords. Until a few decades ago, the birth of a male child was marked by a gun shot, signifying the arrival of a warrior and the naming of the child was followed by feeding him the preserved meat of a tiger. This is no surprise given the lay of the land that was fraught with dense forests, wildlife, danger and uncertainty at all times. Kodavas had to rely on what they grew on their land or what they could hunt.
  • Given this, it is no surprise that Kodava cuisine is primarily non vegetarian – savour the traditional Pandi or pork curry served with rice, prepared in an astonishing number of ways culling out dishes both delectable and unfamiliar. While for the vegetarians, we recommend interesting delicacies such as the kootu curry, a mixed vegetable curry and the Bembla, a curry made from bamboo shoots.
  • There are a host of activities that both you and your children can indulge in during your stay here - guided bird watching trails, a coracle ride down the Cauvery river, nature and plantation walks, visits to the local village, board games and many others.
  • We recommend keeping a sturdy pair of walking shoes, and warm clothes when packing.
  • Wi-Fi connectivity is only available for your use in the common areas.

Bylakuppe - Little Tibet in India

Nestled amongst the lush green rice paddies of South India sits the Tibetan settlement of Bylakuppe, the largest Tibetan settlement outside of Tibet.

The Golden Temple, located within the Namdroling Monastery, will take your breath away. Take off your shoes and walk up the steps into this ornate temple to stand stunned in the beauty of its three gargantuan statues of Buddha, their gold and copper-plated benevolent smiles presiding over the high-ceilinged room. The temple itself is a powerful testament of devotion, every inch adorned with detailed murals and carvings. There is an energy here that will draw you to linger, perhaps sitting on one of the blue cushions offered on the expanse of floor, inviting you to spend some time in meditation or contemplation.
