Families or a group of close friends with young children looking to stay in a charming hidden gem in the heart of Bali’s trendiest neighbourhood, surrounded by exquisite restaurant and chic boutiques. This villa will be most comfortable for 3 couples with children.

What we love

  • This 4+2 bedroom residence, hidden in plain sight in the buzzing district of Seminyak, has been created by artistic owners - Luli and Charles Orchard, famed for his eclectic furniture designs - who have poured their heart and soul into the villa, their family home for over a decade, until they had to move away to Singapore.
  • As you venture into the lavish grounds of the property, you can’t help but think that you’ve just discovered a hidden door to paradise. The villa is nestled by a dream of a tropical garden bursting with fragrant flowers and lush green trees. The paradise-like effect is finalized by the stunning swimming pool glimmering at the heart of the property along with a cosy thatched bale.
  • The décor is a stunning mix of antiques and art scoured from across the globe with opulent oriental rugs covering the floors. Ceramic pots, colourful furnishings and interesting paintings and prints, add a dash of colour to the villa, while memorabilia from South Africa, a place where the couple spent a lot of time, adds a bit of a wild African influence to this elegant home.
  • The villa comes with 4 main bedrooms and 2 childrens’ room fitted with single and bunk beds. The master bedroom has an intimate reading corner surrounded by books across genres, and comes with a rather spacious ensuite, replete with a dressing and bathing area furnished with an indulgent free-standing bath tub. The two childrens’ rooms, perfect for upto 4 children, share the master bedroom’s ensuite. There are two guest bedrooms, with a shared bathroom, on the ground level with king and twin beds. The last bedroom is housed out in the garden under a high vaulted ceiling. This garden room comes with an ensuite that has a terrazzo tub and a delightful patio, perfect for long hours of reading or snoozing.
  • The villa’s dedicated staff, full of Balinese smiles and warm hospitality, has worked at the property for years, empowering them with a true insider’s eye - from picking up on your needs before they’re voiced to making the perfect recommendations around.

What to know

  • The ‘big room’, under the shade of the cool thatched roof, is a chest of treasure for the curious soul! Books on art, design, architecture, furniture, Bali, each with its own place, is up on the wall bookshelf. Browsing through the eclectic collection will make you want to spend the rest of the day on the soft couches, occasionally looking up to soak in the sunlight that beams through the glass sliding doorways.
  • Though Seminyak houses some of the finest restaurants on the island, all within a short walk away, the villa’s private chef Putu might just tempt you to dine in instead. Don’t miss out on the master’s heavenly specialities, which include a sumptuous steak served with white bean sauce, followed by a dessert of dreamy lemonbrulée tart.
  • The tropical sea-side delights of famous Seminyak beach beckon just a short stint from the villa, a place that offers the ultimate setting for some epic fun in the sun - from going on long walks on the beach to building sandcastles with the kids. If you’re looking to venture into the ocean, make sure you only go swimming in areas designated by flags, as the currents can get surprisingly strong.
  • Bali is known far and wide as a haven of healing treatments and a hub of rejuvenating spas. Here, you’ll have the option of indulging in pampering spa treatments, heavenly massages, body scrubs, manicures and pedicures in the privacy of your own villa against an extra fee.
  • The villa is delightfully child friendly - designated kids’ room furnished with cosy bunk beds conveniently located right by the master suite, allowing parents to check up on the little ones with ease, coupled with the sprawling grounds of the villa that offer a true tropical playground for the kids to romp around in, with a table-tennis set and a magical tree house guaranteeing fun for hours on end.

Tanah Lot Temple, Tabanan

Tanah Lot, meaning ‘land on sea’ in the Balinese language, is a beautiful 16th century temple situated on a rock, that’s smoothened out over the years, built as a shrine to worship the sea Gods. For the best views, make a trip here during sunset, while you’re on the coastal side of Bali. Buy a trinklet or two from one of the many shops that dot the path leading up to the temple.
