Those who’d like to be close to the beach, restaurants and dive centers of Havelock, will find this place to be perfect. The beach is just a few steps away and the resort is really great value for money!

What we love

  • The property is located just behind the pristine Vijaynagar beach or Beach #5 where you can go on soak in the blues of the shimmering waters, go on long leisurely walks and watch sun rise. Slip into your beach-wear and get ready for a day full of sun, sand, beach and the sea.
  • Charming green pathways lead up to cottages made in bamboo and cane. The deluxe rooms are more modern, spacious, better finished and come with king sized beds, while the classic rooms are more rustic in design and style and come with queen sized beds. Both categories of rooms are air-conditioned and have televisions, though only the deluxe rooms are equipped with an electronic mini safe.
  • The food served at the shack-like restaurant is finger-licking good! We highly recommend ordering the red snapper fish or the ginger and olive prawns - best enjoyed with a cold beer in hand.

What to know

  • While here, explore the enchanting and colourful underwater-world through dives and fishing trips out in the sea! Get in touch with the folks at Dive India, just around the corner from here, to arrange your trips or get PADI/ SSI scuba certification (you’ll need atleast 3 days for this).
  • While much of the island is fairly disconnected from the world outside, there a few ways to still connect with your loved ones back home, browse on the web or check mails quickly. Internet, not super fast though, is available on a chargeable basis. The staff can also assist with getting a local phone sim-card if required.
  • Beach towels are handed out, so do make sure you can ask the super friendly staff for it before going off to the beach.

Diving & Snorkelling

If there is only one thing you can do in the Andamans, make sure it is diving! As beautiful as the terrestrial aspects of the Andaman Islands are, a world of adventure awaits underwater. The coral reef ecosystem of the Andaman’s is largely protected, however opportunities to discover it first-hand are plenty. There are several dive operators, including Dive Andamans or Dive India, to help you navigate through these rain forests of the oceans.

Stay still for a little while down there and listen for the characteristic tapping of Parrot fish breaking down the calcium carbonate outer coating of the coral to feed on the inner fleshy zooplankton. The underwater world is so much louder than you can imagine! Keep an eye out for the brightly decorated nudibranch - molluscs armed with a dizzying array of defences from stinging cells and camouflage to toxins, to keep predators at bay.

No matter how many dives you do in the Andamans, you will also encounter something you have never seen before! If your adventures in the Andamans motivate you to partake in marine conservation, give ANET (Andamans and Nicobar Islands Environmental Team) a shout out; they welcome volunteers to contribute in biodiversity conservation efforts.

Wandoor Marine National Park

Take a walk down Wandoor beach to admire the gigantic drift wood structures, natural art installations that are actually remnants from the 2004 tsunami, lining the shore. Wandoor is also the gateway to the Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park, where a world of coral reefs, lagoons, turtle nesting areas, wait to be discovered.

Tourists are allowed only on Jolly Buoy (open Nov to May) and Redskin islands (open May to Nov) and while you’re on your little tour, don’t be surprised to find a playful dolphins or a school of fish chase you around!

Fair warning, both islands are popular tourist destinations and are therefore can get extremely crowded during peak holiday season.
