GREAT FOR

Those who wish to lose themselves to the sound of the gushing Ganges or get an adrenaline high from the adventure sports or just enjoy the quietude of this magical spot. Imagine basking under the starlit sky at night by the pristine waters surrounded by the mountains. Fabulous for couples or a small group of friends/ family who are looking to getaway from the city.

What we love

  • This is a beautiful resort nestled in the lap of the Himalayas surrounded by mountain ranges on all sides with the majestic Ganges roaring past it.
  • The very private and mystical experience of India’s longest and holiest river, the Ganges, is offered by this place in a way that compares to no other spot through the river’s 1500 mile long course. The river is sparkling clean at this particular point, still untouched by the wastes of the city. Be it the private beach that’s soothing from the moment you step on to the warm light grey sand or the patio overlooking the beach or the balcony of your room or even your cozy bedside - ‘the river is everywhere’. You can get a peak of the sparkling turquoise waters from every part of this boutique resort.
  • The beautiful high roofed rooms are furnished in white with wooden accents and a glass face that allows you to experience wide angled picturesque view of the Ganges. The spacious rooms are designed in colonial style and equipped with all the modern amenities to ensure a comfortable stay.
  • We love the lychee and mango orchards that surround the rooms! The trees provide the perfect shade from the strong daytime sun and the fruits are a delight during breakfast!
  • The buffet meals are carefully decided and prepared with the best ingredients for the guests. The dining area has a glass exterior for an uninterrupted view of the orchard and the river.

What to know

  • The spa rooms situated in the orchard overlook the river and are equipped with all the amenities that any modern spa offers with a range of exquisite essential oils, massages and rejuvenation therapies.
  • The family area/ play space has several comfortable chairs and a lovely fireplace to keep you warm for when it gets too cold. The glass facade lets you enjoy nature from the comfort of luxurious interiors.
  • Meals are pre-decided and served in the dining area during fixed hours. However, upon special request, food can be prepared for people on a restricted diet or children. There’s no room service but an exception is made for people with disabilities.
  • Rules of the beach must be followed. Please do not come expecting to swim or dive into the dangerous mountain river without a guide. The river is best enjoyed through the special water sports or splashing around the beach.
  • Even if you’re not a hiking or trekking enthusiast, carry your sneakers/ walking shoes as the natural terrain is best treaded with cushioned souls.
  • The riverside gets cold at night, no matter what time of the year you visit the place. We’d recommend carrying a light jacket or shawl to keep you warm while you enjoy the myriad stars in the sky on a moonlit night.

Aarti on the Ganges

The evening aarti on the banks of the Ganges at Parmarth Niketan Ashram in Rishikesh is a luminous sight to behold at twilight. The burnished sky is the perfect backdrop to the flames licking the sky and revering the waters. During this divine ceremony, oil lamps (dias) are offered to God.

The children who study vedas, the holiest books of Hindu religion, at the Ashram, sing hymns, pray and chant creating an enchanting spiritual ambience for all. This is one of the must do experiences to behold if one is in Rishikesh, even for those who shy away from religious ceremonies. It’s a visual feast that’s reminiscent of the pre-civilization practices of revering the elements. The aarti starts at around 6:30 pm. Be there on time to enjoy this visual and high energy ceremony where God is thanked.
