GREAT FOR

This resort is ideal for those who have a penchant for getting high on natural caffeinated beverages - coffee, and would love to gain an understanding of the minutiae that go into its production. We highly recommend this getaway for people looking to spend some quality time with their loved ones, far away from the maddening cries of the city. Great place for couples, small groups and milestone celebrations in the midst of nature.

What we love

  • The resort, beautifully constructed amidst ancient coffee plantations, is perched at one of the highest altitudes in Karnataka where the hills seem to make love to the clouds. The region has an intense mystical aura that shrouds it and tranquility that fills the air at all times. The place is bordered on all sides by the dense forests while the mighty mountain ranges spring up from the Deccan Plateau.
  • Go past the open verandahs and gentling gurgling water streams to arrive at your chic and contemporary villas and residences. The luxurious villas come with windows that sweep the length of the walls, opening up to a little garden and a private pool or a jacuzzi. While the residences, allow you to seriously indulge and take the vacation to the next level of luxury. The residences are two tiered villas that let you bask in the most glorious views of the plantations and the lush vegetation outside and fortified with their own pool and gazebo as well as private living and dining areas.
  • The seamless amalgamation of chic architecture with the heavenly scents of freshly roasted and brewed coffee makes this place the perfect setting for a romantic getaway. Couples can celebrate their love through the melange of exotic flavours whisked up by the talented chefs in surreal settings such as under the banyan tree or by the pool.

What to know

  • If you’re traveling with young children or elderly people, we’d recommend opting for the rooms closer to the reception. However, if you’d like to be away from the crowd, the resort does provide a buggy service to rooms which are further away.
  • The gambolling monkeys can be menace sometimes. We do recommend keeping all food items within the confines of your bedroom and to take care of your belongings at all times.
  • Do remember to carry a sturdy pair of shoes for the beautiful plantation trails and walks around the area.
  • For those who wish to check quick work mails or browse, WiFi is available, both in the rooms and in the common areas of the resort.
  • There aren’t many dining options available close to the resort. Given that the local town, where one can find restaurants/ markets, is about 20 minutes away by car, we recommend opting for the all meals package when you book your stay here.
  • We love the air of warmth that’s extended by the ever courteous and hospitable staff. You’ll find them always on their feet, ensuring that they take every possible measure to make your stay a memorable one.

Coffee Plantations in Chikmagalur

Chikmagalur, a place that’s earned the moniker of ‘The Land of Coffee’, is home to some of the best coffee varieties in India, especially Arabica coffee. Coffee was never native to India, and was introduced here by a freak occurrence. Legend has it that a coffee merchant named Baba Budan happened to visit India from Yemen and brought along with him the secret to cultivating the finest ‘Arabica’ coffee in the 17th century. Since then, the region has continued to garner praise for arguably the best coffee in the country! In order to pay respect to the Yemini coffee patron, the locals named the hills of the region after him, now known as Babu Budan Hills!

Take a guided tour through the working coffee plantations and learn where your morning cuppa comes from. An experience that we highly recommend!
