GREAT FOR

This resort in Coorg is perfect for those who’d like to embark on a journey of wellness and relaxation. Great for nature lovers as well as tired souls from the city looking for a much needed break.

What we love

  • Just off the main road, is this beautiful resort situated by the Kaveri river with the backdrop of the lush green, forests and small waterfalls. The resort is the perfect place where you can wash away the drudgery of the routine city life.
  • Enter your own little world of nature when you step into the aesthetically designed bungalows - each an independent one that comes with a spacious bedroom with a living room, it’s own manicured lawn and a little lotus-lily pond. The en-suite bathrooms feel like a private relaxation area with the beautiful sunken bathtubs under glass roofs from where you can see the soothing cover of greens while myriad birds flutter around.
  • Take a spa session here and you’ll understand why it’s called a spa ‘therapy’. It’s an all round approach to healing where you can even opt for a spa cuisine to take a step closer to wellness! We highly recommend the coffee scrub made from coffee that’s handpicked from the plantations.
  • We loved the little cozy spaces that have been created along the riverside where you can spend hours listening to the sounds of the river, reading a book, taking a nap, watching the birds hop from one branch to another or just enjoy the beauty of the flowers blooming in bold colours. This is a great place to encounter nature in all its glory.
  • After working up a sweat from the treks around, satiate the hunger pangs that come just after with a delicious riverside barbeque. The water will ripple past as you savour the hot food served to you. We highly recommend savouring the traditional Coorgi delicacies that are prepared here as well.

What to know

  • This resort is one of the few places where you can spend a night outdoors if you’d like to. As you wait for the black to set in, the darkening sky will fill up with twinkling orbs of light. Sit bathed in their glow while enjoying a candid chat, a movie or just some special time with your loved one.
  • WiFi is available only in the common areas. You may want to carry your own internet dongle or create a personal hotspot from your mobile should you need internet connectivity at all times.
  • The owners of the resort play their part in supporting and promoting Indian artists and keeping the place eco-friendly. The blinds in the rooms are made of banana fibre, hand woven by the Women’s Weaving Society in Karnataka. You’ll also notice that the tiles used are hand made, painstakingly made by artisans of Tamil Nadu.
  • The staff is extremely warm and helpful. They’ll go out of their way to ensure you have a relaxing vacation. If you’re going here to celebrate a special occasion, birthday or an anniversary, rest assured, utmost care would be taken to make it a memorable one.
  • While enjoying the massage and spa is an absolute must, make sure you enquire about the natural ingredients being used to just to be sure you’re not allergic to any of them.

Bylakuppe - Little Tibet in India

Nestled amongst the lush green rice paddies of South India sits the Tibetan settlement of Bylakuppe, the largest Tibetan settlement outside of Tibet.

The Golden Temple, located within the Namdroling Monastery, will take your breath away. Take off your shoes and walk up the steps into this ornate temple to stand stunned in the beauty of its three gargantuan statues of Buddha, their gold and copper-plated benevolent smiles presiding over the high-ceilinged room. The temple itself is a powerful testament of devotion, every inch adorned with detailed murals and carvings. There is an energy here that will draw you to linger, perhaps sitting on one of the blue cushions offered on the expanse of floor, inviting you to spend some time in meditation or contemplation.
