GREAT FOR

This nature getaway in Coorg is perfect for those who are looking to get disconnected for a while and soak in the tranquility of nature. Couples, honeymooners will fall in love with this place. If you’re a small family too, this place is the perfect place to spend time with your loved ones.

What we love

  • We love how tastefully a coffee and pepper estate has been transformed into a natural wonderland - acres and acres of lush coffee plantations hidden in the deep forests with running river streams set against the gorgeous mountains.
  • The charming and minimal cottages on stilts aren’t like any other room you’ve ever stayed at. From the quiet breeze in the balconies to the hammocks and swings hanging outside, this resort is as relaxing as it gets.
  • The chef here is a genius! He stirs up the most delicious meals - South India, Chinese, Thai, Mughlai or just some good ol’ traditional Coorgi food - all using vegetables organically grown within the estate. The local spices such as cardamom and pepper uniquely flavour the dishes. Make sure you try the pork and dessert here!
  • Cobwebs on the leaves are permanent feature here because of the frequent rains. Every few hours, the gardener tries to remove these delightful natural beauties but they are formed again in a matter of minutes. It’s delightful to just sit and observe!
  • If you feel like getting pampered, the therapeutic spa is the best place to be! Perched on a hill with reasonably priced treatment, one can indulge in a traditional oil massage or perhaps the heavenly coffee scrub.

What to know

  • We love the nature walk through the plantations! We’d recommend going with a member of the staff. He/ she will guide you through this hidden treasure in the midst of Coorg’s ruggedness.
  • The hospitality here is on the high side, with all the members of the staff eager to help the guests with whatever they may require. Most of them are from Coorg itself, making them excellent tour guides who take pride in telling the little tales and folklore of the region.
  • There is a steep slope that leads up to the high end cottages, which may not be suitable for people with walking disabilities.
  • There is no phone connectivity in the resort. Wifi connectivity is limited but that’s exactly why it makes for such a unique and relaxing experience.
  • There’s no room service available and all meals must be had at the dining area itself. Each cottage, however, does have provision for tea and coffee.
  • Good walking shoes are advisable as there’s plenty of walking to do around the resort.

Bylakuppe - Little Tibet in India

Nestled amongst the lush green rice paddies of South India sits the Tibetan settlement of Bylakuppe, the largest Tibetan settlement outside of Tibet.

The Golden Temple, located within the Namdroling Monastery, will take your breath away. Take off your shoes and walk up the steps into this ornate temple to stand stunned in the beauty of its three gargantuan statues of Buddha, their gold and copper-plated benevolent smiles presiding over the high-ceilinged room. The temple itself is a powerful testament of devotion, every inch adorned with detailed murals and carvings. There is an energy here that will draw you to linger, perhaps sitting on one of the blue cushions offered on the expanse of floor, inviting you to spend some time in meditation or contemplation.
